Vibes by H.E.R. Playlist

The world has very little information about R&B singer H.E.R., but I already know she’s my soul sister.

After immediately identifying with the elusive artist after hearing “Jungle,” which is a cover of the Drake song with the same title off What a Time To Be Alive, she became my instant go-to for vibes.Which coincidently (or perhaps no coincidence at all and that’s why we should be best friends) is the title of her playlist on Spotify.

The opening track, “Every Kind of Way” is from H.E.R.’s latest project titled “H.E.R. Vol. 2” which was released in mid-June. For R&B lovers who appreciate velvety vocals paired with romantic lyrics, “Every Kind of Way” hits all the right notes literally. After finishing the playlist, I highly recommend listening to “Losing.” H.E.R. has a way of getting you into your feelings like Drake, but also makes you want to slow dance with bae like Brandy circa 1994.

The remainder of the “Vibes” playlist features songs from the vibe-iest of artists including Frank Ocean, Jhené Aiko, Erykah Badu and James Blake. If you haven’t heard the latter’s catalog yet, it’s essential if you’re looking for strong vocals and quality yet innovative and somewhat trippy production.

With all this being said, although I love creating Spotify playlists (take a listen if you’re curious about the music that frequents my speakers), I couldn’t have created a better playlist myself. So thanks to H.E.R for providing the vibes.
