Oily Skincare Regime

I know everyone’s explore page has been flooded with posts about how to get glowing skin. After the fifth or sixth post, I decided to see what all the hype was about and switch up my routine. I have sensitive and oily skin, so I’m usually satisfied when I find a product that doesn’t break me out and then resort to blotting my face throughout the day.

After a little research, I’ve found a few products that have minimized my shine while keeping my face blemish free.

Tea Tree Toner from the Body Shop. I started using this toner at the beginning of the month and it’s by far my favorite product. I use it daily after cleansing my face and it has actually replaced my moisturizer. It’s extremely gentle, keeps my face even, prevents breakouts, and gives me a glow instead of the sweaty look I tend to get around 3pm.

Herbalism Face and Body Cleanser from Lush. I’ve been using this cleanser for about a year now. Like the tea tree toner, it’s also extremely gentle and doesn’t dry my face out at all. When I first tried it, I was skeptical of its effectiveness because it kind of looks like green mud, but its perfect for everyday use and actually removes makeup.

Vanishing Cream Facial Moisturizer from Lush. Prior to using the Tea Tree toner (mentioned above) I used this moisturizer daily. It’s recommended for oily skin, because contrary to popular belief, us oily girls still need moisture in our skin. Luckily, this moisturizer leaves skin feeling soft but also has a mattifying affect since it’s made with witch hazel. I only use this every few days if my skin is feeling drier than usual.

Detoxifying Charcoal Paper Mask from Yes to Tomatoes. A huge trend I’ve been seeing all over Instagram is people adding charcoal to their skincare routine. This is the third charcoal mask that I’ve used and ,by far, one of the most effective. After leaving it on for about 15 minutes (the instructions recommend 10) my pores were visibly smaller and my skin looked more even. This mask is a little drying, so afterwards, I used some of the Vanishing Cream moisturizer.

The Gentle Sulfate-free Cleanser from Garnier SkinActive. I use this cleanser after I have on a full-face of makeup. Meaning, whenever I wear foundation, blush, and highlighter I want to make sure I get my skin extra clean. I wouldn’t describe this cleanser as super “gentle” but it doesn’t create any pimples and it’s affective. After using this I always apply moisturizer.
